When Eat, This Shark Came Into Misfortune

Pity Shark
Pity Shark

How pity is this Shark. His desire to eat immediately his prey precisely ended ill-fated. He just died choked by not able to swallow the puffer fish because half his body stuck in his jaw shark. The second carcass was discovered on April 21, 2017 and then in tropical waters near the Maldives, an island nation in the Indian Ocean. The carcass was later observed by independent marine biologist Lauren Arthur. Arthur knows the sharks are stranded through a gardener in the resort of Amilla Fushi in the Maldives who saw a shark thrashing near the shore.

However, when Arthur arrives there, the shark is dead. He then identifies the shark as a Lemon shark and the fish still in his jaw is a Durian bundle fish that enters the Diodontidae family. Lemon sharks (Negaprion acutidens) are often visited in shallow lagoons in Baa Atoll. The waters are also home to a large population of Diodontidae.

Lemon sharks can grow up to three meters with a weight of 250 kilograms. However, the species found is still relatively young because of the size of approximately one meter. Meanwhile, its prey, durian buntal fish is also known as a balloon fish because of its body that can expand when they feel threatened.

"Maybe when the shark tried to swallow the durian bamboo fish, its prickly thorns expands and makes the fish body stuck in the throat and mouth of the shark," Arthur said as quoted by Live Science, Friday (01/02/2012). Sharks actually also have the ability to spew out excess food consumed or foods that can not be digested. This is as written in the journal Florida Scientist published 2011.

In fact, according to research published in 2005 in the Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, in extreme cases, sharks can release the contents of the stomach called eversion.

However, the ability of the shark to spew food is useless in the case of prey on this hedgerh fish. Therefore, the body of fish triggered so that it blocked the flow of water through the gill space of the shark and caused the shark to die choked. Due to the device's limitations, Arthur could not analyze the dead shark any further. He then buried it where the shark was stranded.
